How do I track mileage?
Mileage Tracking is optional and available for every publisher type. Answer Yes on the "Track mileage?" card on Home, or turn on Track Mileage in Settings → Profile. Then add your first car; only a name is required. Log a trip with Log Trip on Home's Mileage card, from the Add button, or on the Mileage screen. Enter the distance (turn on Round Trip to double it) or switch to Odometer and enter start and end readings. Odometer Start fills in from that car's last reading. Tap a trip to see its details, or long-press it to edit, log it again today, share, or delete it.
How is the estimated fuel cost calculated, and what happens when fuel prices change?
Estimated fuel cost is distance ÷ the car's fuel economy × its fuel's price, using the values in effect on each trip's date. It only appears once the car has a fuel economy and its fuel has a price; trips without both are left out and the report says so. A fuel's price is shared by every car that uses that fuel. When you change a price or a car's fuel economy, choose From a Date to apply it from that day forward (earlier trips keep the old value) or Fix Current Value to correct a mistake, which also updates the past trips that used it. Each fuel and car keeps a history; long-press an entry to delete it. The amount is only an estimate. If you're reimbursed, the actual amount is calculated by whoever reimburses you.
Can I use kilometers, litres, or L/100 km?
Yes. Open Mileage → Settings (the gear) → Units. Distance can be miles or kilometers, and fuel economy can be mpg (US), mpg (UK), L/100 km, or km/L. Auto follows your device's region. Fuel is priced per gallon with mpg (US) and per litre with every other choice. Currency follows your device's region. Changing units only changes how numbers are shown; your trips aren't altered.
How do I share or export my mileage report?
Open Mileage, choose Day, Week, Month, or Year (service year, September to August), and use the arrows or swipe to pick the period. Tap the share button at the top to Copy the report, Share it as text, or Export CSV for a spreadsheet. The text lists totals, per-car totals when you have more than one car, and each trip except in the Year view. The CSV has one row per trip with the car, odometer readings, distance, note, fuel, fuel economy, price, and estimated cost. Trip notes are included, so check them before sending. To share one trip, open it and tap the share button.
What's the difference between archiving and deleting a car?
Open Mileage → Settings, tap the car, and choose Archive or Delete…. Archiving hides the car from new trips but keeps its trips in your reports; unarchive it anytime from Archived Cars. Deleting removes the car and all of its trips on every device that syncs with this one, and can't be undone. Deleting a fuel removes its price history, so cars using it stop showing an estimated cost.
What does the chart on the Mileage screen show?
Open the Mileage screen and choose Week, Month, or Year. The chart shows how far you drove each day, or each month of the service year (September through August). When more than one car has trips in that period, each bar is split by car, using the colors next to each car's total. Tap a bar to open that day or month and see its trips. The Day view has no chart, and a period without trips shows none. Bars show distance, not estimated cost.
Does my mileage sync, and does it work on Android?
Mileage works on iOS and Android. Cars, fuels, prices, and trips sync between your devices with Device Sync, a Supporter feature, using the option you choose in Settings → Device Sync: Cloud Sync, which also syncs between iPhone and Android, or iCloud (Google Drive on Android). They're included in WitnessWork Backup (Settings → Account) and in backups from Settings → Backup & Restore on both platforms. Mileage is never shared with Buddies and doesn't appear on your calendar or Service Report.
How do I turn mileage tracking on or off?
Use the Track Mileage switch in Settings → Profile. Turning it off hides the Home card, the Log Trip action, and the Mileage screen, but keeps your trips; turn it back on and everything returns. If you chose No Thanks on the Home card, this switch turns it on anytime. To erase your mileage, open Mileage → Settings → Delete All Mileage Data. This deletes it on every device that syncs with this one and can't be undone. You can also hide only the Home card with Settings → Preferences → Home Screen.
