How do I join or decline a shared car?

When a buddy shares a car with you, you get a notification such as “Anna shared a car with you. Open Mileage to join.” The invitation waits in the notification bell on Home, for example “Anna shared Family Minivan with you,” with Join and Decline.

• Join adds the car to Mileage with its whole history, including trips from before you joined. Your own cars stay your own. The person who invited you is told you joined.

• Decline turns down the invitation.

Before you join, know that everyone on the car sees all of its trips, who logged them, and their notes. People on the car who aren't your buddies see you by the name and photo you share.

An invitation stays open for 7 days. If it expired or disappeared, ask someone on the car to invite you again. If joining says “This car already has the most people it can.”, the car has 10 people, counting open invitations. Before you can join, someone on the car needs to cancel an open invitation, or the owner needs to remove someone.

You need Buddies to get an invitation, because only a buddy can invite you. The people on a car don't all need to be your buddies.
