How do I resize or hide the sidebar on my tablet?
On a wide tablet window on iOS or Android, drag the small bar halfway down the sidebar's right edge to resize it. Narrowing the sidebar hides destination names and leaves their icons; widen it to show the names again. Tap Hide sidebar beside WitnessWork (at the top of the icon-only sidebar) to hide navigation completely. Tap Show sidebar in the page header to restore your last saved width. Your width and visibility are saved on this device across app restarts; they are not synced or included in ministry backups, and resizing does not change your records. The sidebar needs a window at least 1,000 points wide and a supported text size. In a narrower window or with very large text, the bottom bar returns automatically; widen the window or rotate to landscape to use the sidebar again. Screen reader users can adjust the Resize sidebar control to increase or decrease its width. If the navigation still seems missing, restart the app and use Still need help? below; keep contact details and other private data out of public reports.
Can I display time as "1h 30m" instead of "1.5"?
Yes. Open Settings → Preferences → Region & Formats and choose a Duration Format. Both formats are available everywhere time is shown.
Can I start the week on Monday instead of Sunday?
Yes. Settings → Preferences → Region & Formats → Start of Week lets you choose the first day of the week. The change applies to the calendar, schedule, and any other weekly views.
Can I force dark mode or light mode?
Yes. Open Settings → Personalization → Color Scheme and pick Device, Dark, or Light. The app will stop following your phone's setting and use the one you choose.
Does WitnessWork support Bold Text, larger text, and other display settings?
Yes. WitnessWork follows your device's display settings; there's nothing to turn on in the app. Text size: it uses the size you choose (Larger Text on iPhone and iPad, Font size on Android), up to the largest accessibility sizes, and wraps or stacks rows so words stay whole; on a tablet, very large text swaps the sidebar for the bottom bar. Bold Text on iPhone and iPad, and Bold text on Android 12 or later, make WitnessWork's text heavier too; on Android, the change shows when you come back to WitnessWork. Reduce Transparency (iPhone and iPad) makes blurred headers and bars solid. Increase Contrast (iPhone and iPad) makes gray text and borders stand out more, in light and dark mode; on Android, High contrast text is applied by the system. Reduce Motion (Remove animations on Android) skips confetti and keeps celebrations still. To choose light or dark mode, use Settings → Personalization → Color Scheme. These settings change only how WitnessWork looks, never your records. If text is cut off or hard to read, report it from the Help Center with a screenshot, your device, and your text size; cover names and addresses first.
Can I change the app's icon?iOS only
Alternate app icons are a Supporter perk on iOS. Open Settings → Personalization → App Icon and choose an alternate. Alternate app icons are unavailable on Android.
How do I rearrange or hide the sections on Home?
Press and hold a section, then choose Edit Home Screen, or press and hold an empty space on Home. The sections start to jiggle. Hold a section and drag it to move it; on iPad, sections can move between the two columns. Tap the gray minus at a section's top corner to hide it (tap Undo if you didn't mean to). To show a hidden section again, tap Add Sections at the top; it comes back first on Home. Tap Done, or tap an empty space, when you're finished; on Android, the back button works too. A section with nothing to show right now, like Approaching Conversations when you have no follow-ups today, appears as an outline while you edit, so you can still move or hide it. Getting Started stays at the top until you finish or close it. Some sections depend on your role or device: Timer appears for roles that log time, Mileage when mileage tracking is on, and Service Year Summary on iPad with an annual goal. With Reduce Motion on, sections stay still while you edit. You can also show, hide, and reorder sections in Settings → Preferences → Home Screen. Hiding a section never deletes your data. Your layout is a preference, so it's included in backups and syncs with your other devices when sync is on.
How do I choose what's on my Progress screen?
Each tab on Progress (Month, Year, and All-time) has its own cards under its summary, and you choose them separately. To change a tab's cards, press and hold any card; it lifts and the cards start to jiggle, and you can drag it straight away. You can also tap Edit Cards under your cards, or the grid button at the top. While the cards jiggle, drag a card to move it, tap the gray minus at its top corner to remove it (tap Undo if you didn't mean to), and drag the curved handle at its bottom corner to make it small or wide; tapping the handle switches sizes too. Cards that come in only one size have no handle. Tap Add Cards at the top to see every card that tab offers. Month has Daily Pace, Studies, Days Out, Visits, Credit, Weeks, Projected Month, Service Year, Year Pace, Streak, Lifetime, and Days. Year has Service Year Pace, Needed a Month, Average, Best Month, Last Year, Days Out, Months Out, Studies, and Visits for the service year shown. All-time has Best Year, Average, Best Month, Days Out, Months Out, Studies, and Visits across all your records. The Days list on Month can show every day of the month or, when compact, only the latest few in a short list that scrolls on its own; drag its handle down or up to switch. To lift the Days list, hold its title rather than a day, since each day has its own menu. Tap Done, or tap the summary at the top, when you're finished. Each tab's summary (the month's report, the service year's total, or your lifetime hours) and the lists of months and years always stay. Some cards only appear when they apply: Daily Pace and Projected Month need a monthly goal, Year Pace, Service Year Pace, and Needed a Month need an annual goal, Credit needs a role whose report counts hours, hour cards on Year need a role that logs hours, Streak needs streaks turned on, and Mileage needs mileage tracking. With Reduce Motion on, the cards stay still while you edit. Removing a card never deletes your time or reports. Your cards are a preference, so they're included in backups and sync with your other devices when sync is on. To start over on a tab, tap Edit Cards there, then Reset Cards.
What do the Year and All-time cards count?
On Year, time counts as each month's report counts it: credit time counts up to that month's limit. Average on Year runs from your first month with time to the last month that's ended; the month under way joins only while it's the only one. Last Year compares this service year so far with last service year at the same point, or the whole of both once the year is over. On All-time, time counts as you logged it, before monthly credit limits, the same as your lifetime hours and Year by Year. Average on All-time covers the service years that have ended, or the one under way if it's your first. Months Out counts the months you shared in the ministry, with or without hours, starting from your first record; the month under way counts once you've shared in it, and it's never shown as missed. On All-time it also shows your longest run of months in a row. Studies counts each contact you marked a Bible study with once, and shows the most any one month had, which is that month's figure for your report. Contacts you've deleted aren't counted. Visits counts visits where you talked with someone; not-at-homes are counted separately. Visits that came with a contact someone shared with you are theirs, so Studies and Visits leave them out. Everything is worked out on this device from your own records, and nothing new is stored or shared. If a figure looks wrong, check the month's report and the visits on the contact; you can contact support from the Help Center, leaving out names and notes.
Can I change the order of the tabs?
Yes. Open Settings → Preferences → Tab Order and use the up and down arrows beside each tab, or long-press a tab's name to move it to the top or bottom. The new order applies right away to the bottom bar on phones and the sidebar on tablets, on iOS and Android. Tabs can be reordered but not hidden. WitnessWork still opens on Home, and Progress only appears for roles that log hours; it keeps its place in your order if you change roles. On iPad, Command-number keyboard shortcuts follow your order too. The order is a preference, so it's included in backups and syncs with your other devices when sync is on; it doesn't change any of your records. To go back, move the tabs back to Home, Contacts, Progress, Schedule. If the order doesn't update, restart the app and use Still need help? below.
How do I turn off celebration and reminder sounds?
Open Settings → Preferences → Audio & Haptics and turn off Play sounds. This controls celebration chimes and reminders while WitnessWork is open; reminders still appear, just without sound (on Android, as a short message in the app). Reminders received while the app is closed follow your device's notification settings; adjust those separately if needed.
How do I turn off vibrations?
Open Settings → Preferences → Audio & Haptics and turn off Haptics. WitnessWork then stops all of its vibration feedback, such as taps, chart scrubbing, and goal celebrations. The setting applies only to this device and isn't synced to your other devices. Some system controls, like menus and switches, may still vibrate based on your device's own settings; adjust those in your device's sound and haptics settings.
