Time & Reports
How do I log time or plan a specific day?
Tap the day on the Schedule tab, in This Week on Home, or under All Days on the Progress tab. The day opens in the bottom half of the screen, so the calendar or list you tapped stays in view above it, and you can tap another day there to switch to it. If the day has no time logged yet, tap Add Time under Time Reports to unfold the time form right there: tap Time, choose how long, add a note or Type if you like, and tap Submit. If the day has no plans yet, tap Plan Day under Plans the same way: add a title if you like, choose One Time or Recurring and how long, and tap the Add button. Tap Add Time or Plan Day again to fold the form away. To add more time or another plan, tap + beside Time Reports or Plans. Tap an entry to change or delete it, or tap a plan to open it. To log a plan you kept, touch and hold it and choose Log as Time; its length and Type are filled in. These open the form in the same place, and its back arrow returns to the day without saving. A note opens in the note editor over the whole screen; tap Done and the day comes back with the form as you left it. To see more of the day or more of the screen above it, drag the bar at the top of the day up or down; WitnessWork remembers the size on this device. To close the day, tap the X or drag it all the way down; on Android, the back button works too. Logging time appears only if your status logs hours; Kingdom Publishers turn on Log my hours in Settings → Profile first.
Does my time automatically roll over to the next month?
Yes. Partial hours below your monthly goal can carry over to the next month. Open Settings → Profile → Advanced and turn on Automatic time rollover (shown when you log hours). The carried hours appear automatically when the new month begins, so you don't need to manually subtract or re-enter anything.
How are Bible studies counted?
Studies are tracked per contact, not per day. To count a study, open a contact, log a conversation, and mark it as "Conducted Bible Study." That contact will count as 1 study for the current month, even if you have multiple sessions with them. To raise your study count, mark a study conversation with a different contact. Visits that came with a contact someone shared with you are theirs, so they don't count; once you log your own study with that contact, it counts.
Is there an Apple Watch app?iOS only
Yes, for iPhone with an Apple Watch on watchOS 26 or later. It installs automatically if Automatic App Install is on; otherwise open the Watch app on your iPhone, find WitnessWork under Available Apps, and tap Install. Then open WitnessWork on your iPhone once so your watch gets your progress. The watch shows this month's hours and whether you're ahead of or behind your plans, counted the same way as on your iPhone (without plans, how much a day it takes to reach your goal). On the watch you can add time for today with an optional Type, start and pause your iPhone's timer, and save the timer's time as an entry. If you don't log hours as a Kingdom Publisher, you can mark that you shared the good news this month. Two complications can go on a watch face or in your Smart Stack: Monthly Progress shows your hours toward this month's goal, with a mark where your plans put you by today; in a round spot you can choose a ring or a gauge, with your goal at its end or a clock below, and without a goal it shows your hours alone. Up Next shows your next follow-up or plan. You can also use Siri on your watch to add time, start, pause or stop your timer, and log a mileage trip, with the same phrases as on iPhone, such as "Add time in WitnessWork" or "Log a trip in WitnessWork". Your iPhone keeps your records. The watch receives your monthly progress, report status, timer, Types, car names and distance unit, and for Up Next the name, address and topic of your follow-ups and the title and place of your plans for the next two weeks. It never receives notes or other contact details, and it can't edit or delete entries. The watch app needs your iPhone, so it isn't available for an Apple Watch set up with Family Setup. With an Android phone, use the Wear OS app instead.
Why does my Apple Watch say Syncing with iPhone?iOS only
Time and trips you add on your watch are sent to your iPhone right away when it's nearby, or the next time they connect, and saved once WitnessWork runs on your iPhone. Until then your watch shows Syncing with iPhone. Its total and complications include that time right away, except Credit Time, which is added once your iPhone saves it and applies your monthly credit limit. Each entry keeps the day you added it on the watch, is saved only once even if it's sent again, and isn't brought back if you already deleted it on your iPhone. Saved entries reach your other devices with sync like any other entry. Starting, pausing, stopping and saving the timer need your iPhone nearby. If the watch says the timer changed on your iPhone, check the time and try again. If your iPhone can't save an entry, the watch tells you instead of confirming it, and the time isn't added; if it asks you to update WitnessWork on your iPhone, update it and try again. If your watch stays out of date, or its complications show — after a week without an update, keep your iPhone nearby and unlocked, open WitnessWork on your iPhone, then open it on your watch. After your iPhone restarts, unlock it once before syncing. For other problems, use the Help Center's private support link and keep your records out of public reports.
What does Up Next on my Apple Watch show?iOS only
Up Next shows whichever comes first: your next follow-up or your next plan. Plans appear only if you log hours. Add the Up Next complication to a watch face or your Smart Stack: touch and hold your watch face and tap Edit, or use the Watch app on your iPhone. It's also on the watch app's home screen. A follow-up or plan stays up for 15 minutes after it starts, so you can check the address or topic when you arrive, and then the next one takes its place. A plan without a start time shows for its whole day, after that day's timed items. Missed follow-ups don't appear; find them in WitnessWork on your iPhone. Names and topics are hidden while your wrist is down or your watch is locked, because others may see your watch face. Tap Up Next to open it, then tap Directions for directions in Maps on your watch, or Start Timer to start your iPhone's service timer for a plan; the timer needs your iPhone nearby. Up Next looks two weeks ahead and keeps moving along while your iPhone is away. Changes you make on your iPhone reach your watch the next time they connect. If it's out of date, open WitnessWork on your iPhone, then on your watch. For other problems, use the Help Center's private support link and keep householder details out of public reports.
Is there a Wear OS app?Android only
Yes, for an Android phone with a watch on Wear OS 3 or later. Install WitnessWork from the Play Store on your watch, or from WitnessWork's Play Store page on your phone, then open WitnessWork on your phone once so your watch gets your progress. The watch shows this month's hours and whether you're ahead of or behind your plans, counted the same way as on your phone (without plans, how much a day it takes to reach your goal). On the watch you can add time for today with an optional Type, start and pause your phone's timer, and save the timer's time as an entry. If you don't log hours as a Kingdom Publisher, you can mark that you shared the good news this month. Add the Monthly Progress and Up Next complications to a watch face, and the Monthly Progress tile to start or pause your timer or add time with a swipe. While your timer runs, it shows on your watch face with Pause and Stop; Stop adds the timer's whole minutes as an entry for today. Allow notifications when your watch asks, so the running timer can show there. Your phone keeps your records. The watch receives your monthly progress, report status, timer, Types, car names and distance unit, and for Up Next the name, address and topic of your follow-ups and the title and place of your plans for the next two weeks. It never receives notes or other contact details, and it can't edit or delete entries. Because others may see your watch, Up Next shows "Follow Up" instead of a name on watch faces, and in the app while your wrist is down; open it to see who it is. Wear OS can't add time or log trips by voice, so use the tile or the app instead. The watch app needs your phone with WitnessWork installed.
Why does my Wear OS watch say Syncing with phone?Android only
Time you add on your watch is sent to your phone right away when it's nearby, or the next time they connect, and saved the next time you open WitnessWork on your phone. Until then your watch shows Syncing with phone. Its total, tile and complications include that time right away, except Credit Time, which is added once your phone saves it and applies your monthly credit limit. Each entry keeps the day you added it on the watch, is saved only once even if it's sent again, and isn't brought back if you already deleted it on your phone. Starting, pausing, stopping and saving the timer need your phone nearby, even if WitnessWork isn't open on it. If the watch says the timer changed on your phone, check the time and try again. If your phone can't save an entry, the watch tells you instead of confirming it, and the time isn't added; if it asks you to update WitnessWork on your phone, update it and try again. If your watch stays out of date, or its complications show — after a week without an update, check that it's connected to your phone in your watch's companion app, keep your phone nearby, open WitnessWork on your phone, then open it on your watch. For other problems, use the Help Center's private support link and keep your records out of public reports.
Can I use Siri or Shortcuts with WitnessWork?iOS only
Yes, on iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later, and on the Apple Watch app. Open WitnessWork once after updating, then say "Add time in WitnessWork", "Start my timer in WitnessWork", "Pause my timer in WitnessWork", "Stop my timer in WitnessWork", "Log a trip in WitnessWork" or "Log a round trip in WitnessWork". To add time you can also say log, enter, record, track or submit, and you can say how long, like "Log two hours in WitnessWork" or "Add 30 minutes to WitnessWork". Siri knows common amounts from 15 minutes to 12 hours; for any other amount, say "Add time in WitnessWork" and Siri asks how long. Siri listens in your Siri language, which can differ from the language you chose in WitnessWork. For trips, Siri asks how far. Distances use your Mileage distance unit; for a round trip, say the one-way distance and it's doubled. Stopping the timer adds its whole minutes as an entry for today and resets it; with less than a minute, nothing is added. Time and trips are added for today, as Standard time and with the car you used last. To pick a Type or car, add the action in the Shortcuts app, where you can also run it from the Action Button or a Home Screen shortcut. Adding time and the timer need you to log hours (Regular Publishers turn on Log my hours first). Logging trips needs Track Mileage on and at least one car. On iPhone and iPad the timer changes right away, and time and trips you add with Siri are saved the next time you open WitnessWork, then reach your other devices with sync like any entry. On the watch they're sent to your iPhone like other watch entries. Siri can only use your Types, car names, distance unit and timer from WitnessWork, never contacts, notes or reports. Siri and Shortcuts aren't available on Android. If Siri doesn't recognize a phrase, open WitnessWork once, wait a minute, and check that Siri is allowed for WitnessWork in Settings. For other problems, use the Help Center's private support link and keep your records out of public reports.
I'm a Kingdom Publisher. How do I log my hours?
Kingdom Publishers report only whether they shared in the ministry, so Home shows a Shared the Good News checkbox instead of Add Time. To keep track of your hours for yourself, open Settings → Profile and turn on Log my hours. Add Time, the timer, and the Progress tab appear, and you can set an optional Monthly Goal. WitnessWork asks about this once, during setup or in the notifications on Home. If you said no, you can turn it on in Settings anytime, and turning it off again hides those without deleting the time you logged. Your report still says only whether you shared, and any time you log also counts as sharing. If you're auxiliary pioneering this month, set that up instead in Settings → Profile: you'll log hours toward that month's goal, and the next month goes back to the checkbox.
How do I switch between Publisher and Auxiliary Pioneer mid-month?
Open Settings → Profile → Status and choose what fits right now: Kingdom Publisher, Regular Auxiliary, Regular Pioneer, Special Pioneer, Circuit Overseer, or Custom. Goals and totals adjust to match. Switch back when you're done. Past months keep the time you entered, so your history stays accurate.
Does the app submit my service report for me?
WitnessWork doesn't send your report anywhere by itself. How and to whom you submit is up to you and your service committee. Until last month's report is sent, the Service Report card on Home shows a Submit row for it, so you don't send this month's report before the month is over. If you already reported another way, touch and hold that row and choose Already Submitted. Open a month's Field Service Report, choose a method from the dropdown above the Submit button, and tap Submit. You can copy a plain-text summary, share it, or hand it straight to Hourglass or NW Publisher, which opens with your hours, Credit, and Bible studies filled in for you to review and send. NW Publisher only accepts the previous month's report. WitnessWork remembers your choice; you can also change it in Settings → Profile → Submission method. Once you submit, copy, or share a report, or tap Already Submitted on last month's reminder, the report and the month's card show Sent with the date. If that was a mistake, tap Sent at the top of the report, or press and hold the month's card, and choose Mark as Not Sent; last month's reminder then comes back. Opening Hourglass or NW Publisher counts only if it opens. If your device was offline when it opened, WitnessWork asks when you come back whether the report reached it, and marks it Sent only if you choose Mark as Sent. On Android, sharing doesn't mark the report, because the share sheet can't tell whether you sent it: after sending, tap Not Sent at the top of the report and choose Mark as Sent, or tap Already Submitted on the reminder.
Can WitnessWork remind me when my report is ready to submit?
Yes. Go to Settings → Preferences → Plans and turn on Remind Me to Submit My Report, or tap Remind Me when the report screen offers it after you submit. On the 1st of each month you get a reminder at your Remind At time (9:00 AM unless you change it) that last month's report is ready. Tapping it opens that month's report, where you can review it and submit it with your usual method. WitnessWork never submits your report for you. There's no reminder for a month with nothing logged, or for a report you've already submitted from the report screen or marked as already submitted from the Home bell; submitting it after the reminder arrives clears it. Turning the setting on asks for notification permission, or opens your device settings if you've declined before. The reminder is worked out on your device from your own records and isn't sent anywhere. Each device schedules its own reminder, so open WitnessWork during the month to keep it current; if you submit on another device, open WitnessWork on this one so it knows. On Android, the system may deliver it a few minutes late to save battery. If it doesn't arrive, check that notifications are allowed for WitnessWork in your device settings (on Android, including its Reminders category) and that Focus or Do Not Disturb isn't silencing them. Last month's report is also listed in the Home bell until you submit it, even with notifications off. If it still doesn't work, report the problem from the Help Center without including names or other private details.
How do I see how many hours I have left this month or year?
Open the Progress tab from the bottom bar. The Month sub-screen shows time so far and hours left for the current month. Pioneers can switch to the Year sub-screen to see annual goal progress, time so far, remaining hours, and a per-month breakdown comparing actual hours to plan.
How can I tell if I'm ahead or behind on my hour goal?
Open the Progress tab from the bottom bar. On the Month view, the report shows how much is left and how many days are left, and the line under it shows whether you're ahead or behind your plans. The Daily Pace card shows how much a day it takes to reach your goal; add it with Edit Cards if it isn't there. Pioneers can switch to the Year view, where the Service Year Pace chart shows how far ahead or behind your Annual Goal you are today, and each month's bar shows how that month did against its goal. The Year Pace card shows how much a month you need for the rest of the service year.
How much do I need each day to reach my goal?
Add the Daily Pace card on the Progress tab's Month view (tap Edit Cards, then Add Cards); it's there by default for roles with a monthly goal. It takes what's left of your monthly goal and divides it by the days left in the month after today, the same count the month's report shows as days left. For example, with 25 of 50 hours done and 20 days left, it shows 1.3 hours a day (the figure rounds up slightly, so keeping to it is always enough). On the last day of the month, it shows everything that's left as today's amount. Make the card wide to also see about how much that is a week. Credit time counts up to its monthly limit, as on your report, and your plans aren't counted; the Projected Month card shows where your plans put you. Once you reach your goal, the card says so. For a past month it shows what you averaged a day, and for a future month what each day would need. It doesn't appear when the month has no goal. For the year, the Year Pace card does the same with your annual goal, spread over the months left in the service year.
How do I read the Service Year Pace chart?
Open the Progress tab and switch to Year. If your status has an Annual Goal, such as regular pioneer, the Service Year Pace card appears below your milestones. The dashed gray line is where your Annual Goal puts you by the end of each month. It is built from each month's own goal, so a mid-year appointment or an auxiliary pioneer month changes it, but a Monthly Goal you changed yourself does not. The green line is your time so far, counted the same way as your Service Report, including each month's credit limit. The dashed green line adds the time you have planned. The faint line is last service year, shown when you logged time in it, and the number at its end is last year's total. If a line runs well past your Annual Goal, the space above the goal is drawn on a compressed (logarithmic) scale so the months below stay readable. Press and hold the chart, then slide your finger, to see any month's totals. "Ahead of pace" compares your time with where the goal line is today. Below the card, each month has a bar: solid for logged time, lighter for credit time, and striped for plans, with a tick at that month's goal. The key above the months explains these marks, and the Hours and vs Goal columns give the numbers. Every bar uses the same scale, so you can compare months. Without an Annual Goal you see the month bars but not the chart. If a month looks wrong, press and hold it to change its status or goal. The chart is drawn on your device from your own entries and isn't shared.
Why was my timer rounded to the nearest 5 minutes?
That was old behavior. Recent versions save the exact stopwatch time when you stop the timer, with no rounding. If you're still seeing 5-minute rounding, update the app to the latest version.
Can I add notes to a time entry?
Yes. When you add or edit a time entry, you can attach a note (e.g. "cart witnessing" or "cut short"). You can also tag entries with categories so similar entries stay grouped in your time reports.
I'm a special pioneer, why is the app showing me an annual goal?
Special pioneers don't have an annual goal by default. If yours appears, open Settings → Profile and set Annual Goal to No. Your monthly goal stays in place and the annual bar on the Progress tab's Year sub-screen will be hidden.
Are LDC and other credit hours included in my totals?
Yes. Credit hours count toward your monthly hour total. For the service-year total, up to 55 credit hours per month are counted, in line with the branch's published cap. Anything above the cap is still kept on the entry but doesn't roll into the annual total.
Will my entries, plans, or reminders move if I travel to another time zone?
Entries and plans stay on their day. As of the April 2026 update, every time entry and plan is anchored to its calendar date independent of time zone, so traveling or crossing a daylight-saving boundary won't move them to a different day. A Plan's time stays on the clock too: a 10:00 AM Plan reads 10:00 AM on the day clocks change. Older entries created before that update are migrated automatically the first time you open the new version. When you open WitnessWork after changing time zones, Home, Schedule, and Progress switch to the new zone's today, and reminders set for a time of day, such as a Plan's reminder or the reminders to log time, plan next week, or submit your report, move to that same time where you are. Follow-ups keep their exact moment, so they show at the matching local time. If you ever spot an entry on the wrong day, please send a bug report and we'll take a look.
How do I send my report to Hourglass or NW Publisher?
Open the month's Service Report, choose Hourglass or NW Publisher in the dropdown above Submit, and tap Submit. Review and send the report in the destination app. Copy and Share are also available. NW Publisher accepts only the previous month's report. Hourglass receives preaching time separately, with Credit Time included in the default report comment; if you replace the comment, check that it still says what you need. Update WitnessWork if a submission option is missing.
